Confirmation Recap - November 30th

Please read this scripture and reflect on the questions below as a family after confirmation.

Share: Tonight, we read parables Jesus told about the kingdom of heaven. What beliefs do you have about the kingdom of heaven? Think: do those come from something Jesus says in Scripture, or is it something someone taught you?

Read the scripture together: Matthew 19:14, "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.'”

Ask: Kids, share with your parents:

  • What did you learn about the kingdom of heaven tonight that was new or surprising to you?
  • What's one question you still have about the kingdom of heaven?
  • Can you learn to be okay with the ambiguity about the kingdom of heaven? In other words, knowing that Jesus teaches about the kingdom of heaven in such a way that we simply don't get to understand everything there is to know about the kingdom of heaven, can you accept the fact that there simply are some things we won't know until we reach the kingdom of heaven?

Pray: Creator of heaven and earth, We pray, "your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Teach us what we need to know about your heavenly kingdom and help us to trust you with the rest of what we don't know and may never know. Make us your disciples: that our words and actions might bring about your kingdom on earth, as it is in heaven. Work through us, Lord Jesus, to bring about your kingdom of heaven on earth. Amen.

Weekly Announcements

Club 56 & Confirmation Youth & Families,
Please take a moment to read through the announcements and check your calendars to see where you can connect with Zion's youth ministries this month!

Christmas Tree Sales: The Stewartville Morning Lions sell Christmas trees every year in the Fareway parking lot as a fundraiser, and welcome additional help taking shifts to sell Christmas trees. You can sign up for a shift here.  Two recommendations:
  • If you'd like to sign your child up for a shift, I recommend that a parent signs up for a slot with them, unless you personally know one of the Lions' members who are already signed up for that shift.
  • If all slots for a shift are open, I recommend that you do not fill up an entire slot, in order to leave a space for at least 1 Lion to be scheduled.  This will help make sure there is a seasoned expert with you to help out.
If you have a question about Christmas Tree sales, please contact Matt Huggenvik at

Bear Creek Cookie Classic: Bake holiday-themed cookies, pies, bars, breads or other treats for the Bear Creek Cookie Classic. Please contact Angie Froisland  with questions at or at 288 - 7195.

Donations should be dropped off in disposable containers or trays the Bear Creek Services Building  (3108 Highway 52 North, Rochester, MN  55901).  Our volunteers will display your cookies on holiday-themed platters.

Volunteer bakers can drop off cookies at the following times:

      Wednesday, December 7th from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

      Thursday, December 8th from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

      Friday, December 9th from 7:30 AM - 8 PM

Confirmation Requirements: Many of you have already started taking sermon notes and completing service hours - great job! Remember, for each year of confirmation, you need to complete:

  • 12 sermon notes
  • 10 church-related service hours
  • 10 community service hours
To get credit for your service hours, you need to fill out a green half-sheet, describing how you served, and turn it in by the youth bulletin board (the same place you turn in your sermon notes).

Not sure what "counts" for service hours? Here are a few options, and links to sign up:
  • Acolyte
  • Worship Computer Operator
  • Saturday Noon Meals (parents can participate, too!)
  • Nursery Helper: sign up for a date to help on the Youth Bulletin board
  • Skit Crew: sign up on the Youth Bulletin board
  • Sunday School Helper: Contact Wendy Weber
  • Look for more service opportunities to come!
If you have any questions or concerns about the announcements listed above, please don't hesitate to reach out.
