Safe Child & Volunteer Training
But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Luke 18:16
It is the practice of Zion Lutheran Church to provide a safe environment for the children, youth and volunteers in our church. Ministry with our children and youth is deeply valued and to that end, procedures are followed to protect them from harm in our church and at church sponsored events. Adults responsible for leading church activities complete Safe Child & Volunteer training.
SCV Training
Safe Child & Volunteer (SCV) trainings take place every year, primarily in the summer before Vacation Bible School, and in the fall before yearly programming begins. All volunteers are required to attend a training class and take the training quiz (see below), fill out confidential forms, complete a background check, and meet with a pastor for a brief interview conversation. SCV training is valid for 5 years before being recertified.
